New Delhi: The country on Monday began administering the third ‘precautionary dose’ to three important groups — health care and frontline workers and those aged over 60 years with comorbidities. The Centre updated a step-by-step guide for beneficiaries – for taking Precaution dose. Following are some questions regarding the provision of precaution dose. As directed by the Centre, the third dose will be of the same vaccine as the first two jabs and will be given to those who were vaccinated nine months ago.

Do I need to register again for precaution dose?

No, use the existing account to book an appointment for a precaution dose. Beneficiary can log on to CoWIN from registered mobile number and OTP and subsequently they can see the status of their vaccination, details of first dose, second dose and now they can see the due date for the precaution dose.

How do I ensure that I am registered as a healthcare worker (HCW) or Frontline worker (FLW)?

Type of beneficiary is now specified on the beneficiary’s dashboard. Beneficiary can log in to the beneficiary’s dashboard after entering OTP and you will be able to see the beneficiary type like HCW, FLW or citizen on the dashboard. With that they can see the due date for their precaution dose and further plan their dose.

Subsequently, save the appointment slip.

Can I walk-in to the nearby COVID Vaccination Centre for Precaution dose if I am eligible?

Yes, There is a provision for onspot or walk-in for precaution dose. Vaccinator can search the beneficiary from a mobile number, reference ID, and photo identity number like PAN Card, voter id. Further, after searching the beneficiary from the mobile number, the vaccinator can see the status like beneficiary type and AEFI status whether there was a history on not and then based on the details of the beneficiary and eligibility, they can add beneficiary to the session. Subsequently verify the photo identity document and the last digit of the reference id and year of birth and vaccinate the beneficiary. Vaccinators can also download the certificate of the precaution dose for the beneficiary and provide this to the beneficiary and the COVID vaccination Centre itself.
