BENGALURU: A four-year-old girl died after her mother allegedly flung her from the fourth-floor passage of a residential building in Sampangiramanagar in central Bengaluru, on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Driti Bharadwaj, the only daughter of Sushma Bharadwaj, a dentist and Kiran Bharadwaj, a software engineer with a private firm.
Police said that the incident took place between 3 and 3.30pm.
Sushma threw Driti to the ground. The kid suffered severe injuries and died on the way to the hospital. Cops arrested Sushma on murder charges.
Police said that the woman claimed that her daughter was intellectually disabled and suffered from speech development issues. So, she decided to kill her and later die by suicide.
The police are verifying Sushma’s claim.
Deputy commissioner of police (central) R Srinivas Gowda said that police have arrested Sushma. She had screamed for help after she threw the girl and tried to jump. She was saved by neighbours.
