Covid-19: 14 J&K districts complete 100% first dose vaccination for all above 18 years | Srinagar News – Times of India


SRINAGAR: Fourteen districts in Jammu and Kashmir have completed 100 per cent first dose of Covid-19 vaccination of those above 18 years of age.
According to financial commissioner health and medical education Vivek Bhardwaj, eight districts in Kashmir and six in Jammu recorded 100 per cent vaccine doses.
Vivek said: “Various medical teams motivated the people for the vaccination which made the people to take doses. The teams also dispelled the negative impress created by some forces on the social media against the vaccination.”
Vivek further said, the Srinagar district has achieved the target of 100 per cent vaccination through the vigorous campaigning of the government. He said, the medical teams even visited the localities and mohallas in Srinagar district to impress upon the residents to take the vaccine doses.
“I was really glad to learn that the residents of Alamdar colony in Rawalpora in Srinagar conducted the vaccination drive at a local mosque. The residents came forward in bunches to take the doses,” J&K health commissioner Vivek added.
The districts in the valley which achieved the target include Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam, Ganderbal and Baramulla, while people in the districts in Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Doda and Shopian took the doses.
“In Kashmir, Srinagar district has a vaccination percentage of 99, Baramulla 98 and Kupwara with 90 are yet to achieve the full target,” the figures reveal.
In Jammu division, Udhampur with vaccination percentage of 93, Kuthua 98, Kishtwar 81 and Reasi 97.5 are yet to achieve the target, the figures reveal. “In aggregate form around 99 per cent of people over 18 years of age have been given first dose of vaccine.”
