NEW DELHI: A woman was arrested on Monday following a collision involving her BMW and a parked vehicle, which then struck four pedestrians, causing critical injuries in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash Enclave-II area.
The incident occurred on Sunday night, and Mahak Kapoor (34), accompanied by her husband, was driving the car and was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol during the accident.
The injured pedestrians, Yashwant Nalwade (58), Devraj Madhukar (50), Manohar (62), and Nitin, all from Maharashtra, were walking after dinner when the parked Maruti Ciaz was hit by Mahak’s car. The impact of the collision resulted in all four pedestrians being thrown into the air before landing on the ground.
CCTV footage captured the incident, and Mahak underwent a medical examination after the accident. She has been booked under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by an act that endangers human life) of the IPC at CR Police Station, and she has been arrested. During interrogation, Mahak explained that she lost control of the car while trying to avoid a two-wheeler that suddenly appeared in her path.
