BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh government has decided to display pictures of teachers in the government schools. This is aimed to ensure that students and parents know the teachers posted in a school and to prevent the practice of teaching staff sending proxy on their behalf.
Officials said, this issue was discussed during the national conference of chief secretaries chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dharamshala in June. There were complaints from some states that teachers were using proxy candidates to teach, especially in government schools in far flung , rural areas. Details about size and position of pictures in the government schools would be issued by the department soon. Its compliance would be a priority as it came from the chief secretaries’ conference chaired by the PM, said sources.
CM and school education minister have talked about it in the last three days. In a meeting held earlier this week, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan while addressing the ministers and officers, said that Prime Minister intends to ensure that every eligible person gets benefits of all welfare scheme within the prescribed time-limit. In the same meeting, he gave directives that photographs of teachers should also be put up in all schools.
Earlier this week, the state cabinet approved the new transfer policy of the school education department under which teachers posted in an institution, especially in urban areas, for a period of ten years or more, will be posted in schools with no teachers or a shortage of teachers in rural areas. Teachers will not be posted in private postings of elected public representatives.
On the sidelines after the meeting, the school education minister Inder Singh Parmar also spoke about putting pictures of teachers in the schools to prevent any misuse. There have been incidents in MP wherein teachers were booked for sending their proxy in schools. In January 2020, a primary government schoolteacher hired a youth to teach in his place in Khargone district. He was booked by the police for cheating and impersonation. A class eight drop-out had been teaching at the school for a year.
